Purple Alien OG is an indica-dominant cross of Alien Kush and Tahoe OG with no documented breeder. User reports describe bushy growth and relaxing effects.

Research as of 10/12/2026

Almost no stretch after the onset of flowering and growth that can be trained well outward: that is how one grower describes Purple Alien OG, and the 48 evaluated user reports from 2015 to 2025 offer little more in the way of cultivation practice. They deal mainly with the effects, smell and appearance of the flowers, and they do not agree on everything. The strain is listed as an indica-dominant cross of a male Alien Kush and Tahoe OG; who bred it is not publicly documented.

Community Experiences:

Regarding appearance, the reports only partly match the common descriptions, which emphasize dark purple leaves, thick cone-shaped flowers and plenty of resin. One user had rock-hard buds, another large, loose ones with a purple sheen, and a further one forest-green material with purple patches and red pistils. The range is also wide for smell: skunk and gasoline, berry with citrus in the aftertaste, floral lavender with a sweet note, earth with coffee and spice, and in one case stable manure and damp earth.

Customer comments on the feminized seed version from Norcal Farms describe straightforward cultivation, reliable germination and a flowering period of about 2 months. Some criticize yields below expectations.

Effects:

Reports consistently describe a body-centered relaxation that, in several accounts, turns into drowsiness and sluggishness on the couch. Euphoria, silliness, hunger and a tingling in the body are also mentioned. Other users, by contrast, describe an effect that sets in more in the head and keeps them awake, focused or talkative; one report mentions barely noticeable body effects. Several state that the high sets in strongly and fades comparatively quickly.

Dry mouth and dry eyes appear as side effects. One user reports slight paranoia with a strongly head-heavy effect, another found the tiredness overwhelming. Strain descriptions add dizziness and, at higher doses, feelings of anxiety and paranoia.

Aroma and Flavor:

Strain descriptions list pine, earth and citrus as base notes, plus lavender and grape; another describes earthy, pungent berry with a sweet grape note and a lemony top. A producer that now lists the strain as archived speaks of a penetrating earthy Kush smell with a hint of citrus. The terpenes given are myrcene, pinene and caryophyllene, elsewhere myrcene, limonene and caryophyllene.

Genetics and Origin:

Several strain descriptions and the producer mentioned agree on Alien Kush × Tahoe OG. None of them names a breeder, and one states explicitly that the original breeder has not been publicly confirmed. Other pedigrees are also in circulation: one description gives Alien Kush × Purple Kush, while the seed version from Norcal Farms is said to involve Tahoe OG Kush, Alien Kush and Alien OG.

Purple Alien, Alien Purple OG and Purple Tahoe Alien circulate as alternative names. The last is misleading, because under Purple Tahoe Alien a cross of Purple Alien Kush and Tahoe Alien is attributed to the breeder Alien Genetics. For the indica share, 80 %, 70 % and 50 % appear side by side. POGO is documented as an offspring, a cross with Goji OG, from which, together with Berry Breath, Alien Breath in turn emerged.

THC and CBD Content:

The figures in strain descriptions vary: 12 to 17 % THC in one, 19 % in a second, 15 to 20 % with peaks up to 24 % in another, which also gives 0.1 to 1 % CBD. For CBG, 1 % is given in one place. A producer stated 20.49 % THC for a flower batch, without naming a lab or the year of measurement.

Versions from Different Breeders:

Seeds under this name are attributed to 2 breeders. For the feminized, photoperiod version from Norcal Farms, 55 to 65 days of flowering, up to 200 g/m² indoors, up to 300 g outdoors, medium height and 14 % THC are given; outdoors, harvest accordingly falls in mid to late October, and cultivation is rated as easy. An autoflower version with 80 % indica is attributed to Amsterdam Seeds Co., with the same figures: 55 to 65 days, up to 200 g/m², up to 300 g and 14 % THC.

Cultivation:

Independently of these versions, several strain descriptions give 8 to 9 weeks of flowering. One of them puts the yield at 350 to 450 g/m² indoors and 14 to 18 ounces per plant outdoors (around 397 to 510 g), the indoor height at 3 to 4 feet (around 91 to 122 cm), and describes compact, bushy growth with dense flowers. It rates cultivation as moderately difficult to difficult. Another places the strain with advanced growers and names warm conditions with 40 to 50 % humidity, which contradicts the rating as easy from Norcal Farms. According to one description, the strain is suitable for indoor, outdoor and greenhouse growing.

Consensus

48 user reports from 2015 to 2025: predominantly a body-centered, relaxing effect that can turn into drowsiness and sluggishness; also euphoria, silliness, hunger. Dry mouth and dry eyes are named as side effects. One grower describes almost no stretch in flowering and bushy growth.

Divergent reports

Some reports describe a head-heavy, alert or stimulating effect with little body effect; several mention a short duration of effect. Flower density (rock-hard versus loose) and smell (skunk/gasoline, berry with citrus, lavender, coffee and spice, stable manure) are described differently. Customer comments on the Norcal Farms version partly criticize low yields.
