Chocolatina is a cross of Tina and Mint Chocolate Chip from Exotic Genetix, with widely diverging accounts of whether it is indica or sativa and of its THC values.
Myrcene at 0.46 % and limonene at 0.43 % head the terpene analysis published for a batch of Chocolatina sold on the US market, just ahead of linalool at 0.29 % and β-caryophyllene at 0.25 %. The cross of Tina and Mint Chocolate Chip comes from Exotic Genetix. How far the information on it diverges shows in the THC content and in the question of whether it should be classed as an indica or a sativa hybrid.
The same analysis lists humulene at 0.11 %, β-pinene at 0.06 %, bisabolol at 0.05 % and α-pinene at 0.03 %; total terpene content is 1.74 %. For cannabinoids, the batch reports 31.76 % THCA and 0.32 % Δ9-THC, and the active cannabinoids add up to 33.77 %. The product listing names neither the lab nor the test date; this is a single measurement.
Information on other batches sold on the US market gives 28 % and 33.83 % THC. For total terpene content, 3.58 % and 3.77 % appear alongside the 1.74 %. Such values vary with the batch, the cultivation and the phenotype.
Older strain descriptions have little in common with these batch values, putting the THC content at 16 to 18 %. A 2024 review gives 32.07 % for the batch it covers, and in user reports consumers mention packaging figures of 26 %, 31.1 % and 32 %.
The mother is Tina, an Exotic Genetix cross of Constantine and Triple OG. The father was Mint Chocolate Chip, also from the breeder's program, derived from SinMint Cookies and Green Ribbon BX. Some strain descriptions list the father under the name Minto Chocolate Chip.
According to the breeder, Chocolatina consists of 70 % indica and 30 % sativa and is offered exclusively as regular seed. Other descriptions, by contrast, classify the strain as sativa-dominant, one of them with 80 % sativa. In user reports, several consumers expressly dispute this classification and describe an indica-dominant hybrid.
Several sources name cheese, pine and earth, along with coffee, nuts and a sweet finish. A 2019 review describes the smell as earthy to skunky, in part doughy and sweet, and the taste as having a minty spice. Other descriptions list chocolate, menthol, diesel and herbs. In their reports, consumers also mention hash, wood, a hint of lemon and a combination of chocolate, coffee and skunk.
Euphoria runs through the user reports, together with relaxation, elevated mood and a cheerfulness that extends to giggling. The reports diverge on the character of the effect: some consumers find the strain activating, creative and focused, while others describe a balanced or distinctly body-centered feeling and more of an evening calm. A 2023 review describes a euphoric onset that turns into lethargy, and one from 2024 a tingling that spreads from the forehead across the body. Several consumers call the strain strong.
Side effects named are dry mouth, dry eyes and dizziness, and, after consuming concentrates, occasionally heartburn.
Exotic Genetix states 56 to 63 days of flowering. The plant is said to reach medium to tall height; as a growth form the breeder names the multi-topped bush and rates the yield as medium to high. According to these details, cultivation is possible indoors and outdoors. Another strain description sets the flowering time clearly longer, at 62 to 69 days.
The buds are considered dense and rich in trichomes, with orange pistils. Depending on the batch, they are described as light green or as dark forest green with purple undertones.
