Dream Berry

At least 4 different crosses circulate under the name Dream Berry, and Blue Dream is in every one of them. Each breeder chose a different berry-leaning partner: Apothecary Genetics used Blackberry, Female Seeds Blueberry Cheesecake, Auto Seeds Berry Ryder and North Genetics Plush Berry. General strain descriptions refer to the indica-dominant version from Apothecary Genetics.

Genetics and Origin:

Apothecary Genetics released Dream Berry as a limited edition, with Icemaster listed as the breeder. The mother is Blue Dream, a cross of DJ Short's Blueberry and Super Silver Haze that is maintained as a clone-only variety. The father was a Blackberry male from the breeder's own program; at Apothecary Genetics, Blackberry traces back to Mendo Purps and Mendo Diesel. According to the available information, feminized seeds of this version were never offered.

The cross is classed mainly as an indica. One strain description puts the ratio at 80 % indica and 20 % sativa.

Aroma and Flavor:

Blueberry leads in the descriptions of the Apothecary version, accompanied by citrus notes that appear sometimes as grapefruit and sometimes as a lemony aftertaste. One description also mentions floral tones and, in some phenotypes, a hint of diesel. Consumers report a sweet berry note with a tart grapefruit finish; one report adds pine, skunk and pepper. One strain description lists myrcene ahead of caryophyllene and limonene as the leading terpenes, without giving measured values.

THC Content:

Without reference to a lab, strain descriptions give 16 to 20 % THC for the Apothecary Genetics version.

Effects:

User reports center on physical relaxation, often combined with drowsiness, euphoria and increased appetite. Some consumers describe strong sedation, up to the feeling of being stuck on the couch. By their own account, others stayed clear-headed, talkative or focused and could get everyday tasks done. One report says the body responded first and the head only afterward.

Reported side effects include dry mouth, dry eyes and, in one case, dizziness, while another report explicitly notes no dry mouth. Some of the reports refer to vape cartridges and gummies of the same name, whose genetic origin remains unclear.

Cultivation:

Apothecary Genetics gives 6 to 7 weeks of flowering for Dream Berry under artificial light; outdoors, the harvest is expected in late September. The breeder puts indoor yield at 350 to 400 g/m². The dried flowers are described as slender and pepper-shaped, with dark pistils.

Versions from Different Breeders:

Female Seeds combined a Blue Dream clone with a blueberry-dominant phenotype of Blueberry Cheesecake and lists the result as a feminized, sativa-dominant variety. The breeder gives 9 to 10 weeks of flowering, another description 10 to 11 weeks. Under artificial light, 200 to 400 g/m² and a height of 80 to 150 cm are stated; outdoors, 200 to 1,500 g per plant at 2 to 4 m in height, with harvest in October. According to the breeder, the plants stay compact at first and stretch during flowering; they tend toward mold in high humidity and prefer a dry climate. Besides mostly dark green plants, there are phenotypes with a bluish sheen and with dark purple coloring. Female Seeds describes the scent as sweet blueberry over woody and herbal Haze notes.

A documented outdoor grow of this version on a balcony at 38° north latitude was harvested on 11 October. The report describes an easy-care, sativa-like plant with many strong side buds that was tied down horizontally in June, and a clear daytime effect.

Dreamberry from Auto Seeds is a feminized autoflower variety made from Blue Dream and Berry Ryder. The breeder describes compact growth with short internodes from Berry Ryder and elongated flower clusters from Blue Dream, which form on several shoots instead of one main cola, and therefore considers the variety suitable for SCROG. Up to 350 g/m² and a cycle from 75 days are stated; for flavor, Auto Seeds speaks of floral and berry tones with a slightly spicy note.

Finally, North Genetics lists an indica-dominant F5 line of Blue Dream and Plush Berry that, according to the breeder, is ripe after around 60 days of flowering. Most phenotypes are said to stay low, produce plenty of resin and respond well to topping.
