F1 Durb is a cross of an F1 line and Durban Poison that Jigga kept in the Bay Area and used as a parent of GSC and Cherry Pie.

Research as of 11/05/2026

Behind the abbreviation F1 Durb stands a cross that Jai Chang, known as Jigga, bred in the San Francisco Bay Area from a line of his own referred to only as F1 and a Durban. The plant became known mainly as a parent: Chang made Girl Scout Cookies (GSC) and Cherry Pie from it, and an overview presented by Cookies sees it as the foundation of the entire Cookies family tree. According to the available descriptions, it is not freely available, and it was never offered as feminized seed.

Genetics and Origin:

According to Cookies, where Chang now oversees the genetics, he grew the strain from 1998 onward. He never revealed the real name of the F1; in an interview with High Times he called the line a closely guarded secret of his group. There he also explained that Durb stands for Durban Poison and that the cross of the two was stabilized before further breeding.

The family tree is not entirely resolved, though. A retrospective on the Cookies family points to further origin stories that are hard to verify; Mr. Sherbinski, who also belongs to the circle around GSC, stated there that he had known F1, Durb and Flo Rida OG each on its own. Purple City Genetics, which uses F1 Durb in several of its own crosses, lists the strain as Durban Poison × Chemdog. The classification varies as well: strain descriptions and a producer list it as a sativa or sativa-dominant, while another description calls it a balanced hybrid with 50 % indica and 50 % sativa.

For GSC, Chang crossed F1 Durb with an OG Kush from Florida that he calls Flo Rida OG; according to the interview, this OG had reached San Francisco from Jacksonville. Crossing with Granddaddy Purple produced Cherry Pie. Other breeders have also crossed in F1 Durb: Katsu Seeds in F1 Durban X Sour Diesel and Nocturnal Emissions, Riot Seeds in Cokehead Slut and Pale Stranger, Purple City Genetics in F1 Durb x Strawnana and Gush Mints. The clone Poison Gushers is considered a probable cross of F1 Durb and Gushers.

Effects:

In several reports, consumers describe a strong, quickly noticeable effect in the head that brings drive, focus and creativity; one compared it to a stimulant, another to a feeling of floating. Elevated mood, silliness and sociability are also mentioned, and occasionally sexual arousal. Not everyone finds the strain this stimulating: other reports describe a relaxed, calm effect with a slight tingling in the body. Strong hunger is mentioned repeatedly.

Reported side effects are dry mouth, dizziness and paranoia. One consumer described the onset as sudden and overwhelming.

Aroma and Flavor:

Diesel, berry and a cheesy undertone appear in strain descriptions as well as with a Canadian producer that grows the strain in a greenhouse in the Niagara region. Another description paints a brighter picture, with a floral-sweet scent, sour lemon and earth; on the palate, sweet-sour citrus notes are followed by a slightly peppery, earthy finish. A US supplier describes its batch as blueberry cheesecake with diesel in the background.

Strain descriptions and the Canadian producer name caryophyllene, limonene and linalool as the leading terpenes, without giving amounts. Another description, by contrast, puts myrcene first, and yet another terpinolene.

THC and CBD Content:

One strain description gives 19 % THC and no CBD. The Canadian producer declares considerably higher THC values for its product. One lab value is available as a single measurement: for a batch tested by Badger Labs in 2025, a US supplier stated 37.21 % THCA and 0.17 % delta-9-THC. The corresponding certificate is not linked on the supplier's page, and values of individual batches vary depending on cultivation and phenotype.
