According to its breeder White Label, Guava Jelly has only a faint smell during flowering; the breeder gives the aroma itself as guava, berries, aniseed and citrus over a sweet skunk undertone. The seed brand carried by Sensi Seeds classes its feminized hybrid as 50 % indica and 50 % sativa and names Wedding Cheesecake, Strawberry Kush, OG Kush and Durban as source lines. At least 2 other, genetically different crosses from Grounded Genetics and Swamp Boys Seeds circulate under the same name.
Aroma and Flavor:
White Label attributes the berry note to Strawberry Kush and the citrus note to Durban. A grow report published by the breeder confirms the subdued smell in the grow room and describes the dried flowers as sweet and fruity, with a slight skunk touch and an earthy side.
Consumer reports are less uniform. They mention tropical fruit with diesel, grapefruit, and citrus with pepper, herbs and mint, along with cheese, sour lemon and a chemical note reminiscent of cleaning agent. One report complains of an unpleasantly chemical taste and puts it down to the post-harvest treatment of the flowers. One strain description lists myrcene as the dominant terpene, followed by limonene and caryophyllene.
Genetics and Origin:
White Label's information does not show which of the 4 lines served as mother and which as father. Other strain descriptions label the pedigree as probable and write Durban Poison instead of Durban. Departing from the breeder's 50/50 classification, the strain is in some cases listed as sativa-dominant. A US producer also lists the same cross under the name Guava Jam.
Versions from Different Breeders:
- White Label: feminized seeds. The breeder rates the yield as high and the flowering time as average, each without a figure.
- Grounded Genetics from Barcelona: regular seeds from Sweets by Karma Genetics (Guava Gelato x Sour Diesel Bx2) and Jealousy (Gelato 41 x Sunset Sherbert Bx1). The breeder's description gives guava, sour forest berries, strawberry and some aniseed, a deep purple color in many plants and upward-growing branches suited to Sea of Green. For flowering time, seed sellers give 8 to 10, 9 to 10 and 8.5 to 9.5 weeks; for THC content, one seller gives 16 %, another more than 20 %.
- Swamp Boys Seeds: Forbidden Fruit x White 91, exclusively as regular seeds. The breeder used the strain further in Guava Now N Later, a cross of Now N Later and White 91 x Guava Jelly.
In addition there is CBD-dominant hemp that 2 US suppliers list under this name, each with Berry Blossom as a parent, once combined with a purple phenotype of Bubba Kush E59, once with T1.
Effects:
For its own version, White Label describes a warm body feeling followed by an uplifting, energetic high. User reports describe a euphoric opening phase that turns into relaxation and mention focus, creativity, talkativeness and food cravings. Individual voices differ: one report found the effect heavy for a sativa-leaning hybrid, another found it tiring and detrimental to concentration. Dry mouth and dry eyes are named as side effects; one strain description additionally lists dizziness and grogginess.
THC and CBD Content:
White Label gives a THC value only in its own grow report: 20.6 % for a single plant, with no laboratory named. The strain descriptions are far apart. One gives 17 % THC at 0 % CBD, another, which covers all 3 seed versions together, 22 to 27 % THC. A single user report mentions 30 % for purchased flowers.
Cultivation:
According to White Label, the plant triples its height in flowering; cuttings sent into flowering at 20 to 30 cm stay under 100 cm. The branches grow upward rather than outward, which is why the breeder names Sea of Green, along with topping, supercropping and ScrOG. For outdoor growing the breeder recommends a Mediterranean climate and notes that stakes or a net may become necessary.
The breeder's grow report documents a single plant from seed in an 8-liter pot: 27 days of growth, 64 days of flowering, 92 days in total. It grew from 27 cm at the switch to 72 cm and yielded 98 g of dried flowers, without training and without support. The report notes wide internode spacing, little leaf mass and correspondingly little trimming work. Another strain description gives 8 to 10 weeks of flowering.
Community Experiences:
Growers who have grown the White Label seeds report high yield and a long flowering phase. The plants did not turn out uniform in every case: in one report, 3 seeds produced 3 different phenotypes, the taller ones with more side shoots, the shorter ones with larger flowers. There is also a differing account on stretch, with hardly any gain in height during flowering.
