Lion's Mane

Chamomile is the comparison that keeps coming up in descriptions of Lion's Mane: in the aroma as a sour, spicy note, in the flavor as herbal tea. The hybrid was bred by Lemonnade, a sister brand of Cookies whose lineup is predominantly sativa-leaning. Lemonnade has not disclosed the parent strains; the name refers to the mushroom of the same name.

Aroma and Flavor:

Sour and spicy notes form one focus of the strain profiles, where the flavor is likened to chamomile. An article from 2020 similarly describes the smoke as sour with chamomile and adds earthy notes. Another description puts wood and pine in the foreground, accompanied by sweet herbs and fresh herbal tea, slightly woody on the exhale. A third reading is fruitier, speaking of tart citrus fruit with a pine note and finding sweetness, citrus and an almost berry-like touch in the flavor.

A review of an extract of this strain from 2020 connects the two directions. It mentions floral sweetness with lemon chamomile, sour-sweet lemon candies and tropical citrus fruits; in the flavor, pineapple, grapefruit and lemon are named, followed by a minty, piney aftertaste. User reports sound more sober: one describes an earthy taste with a hint of tea and nuts, another was reminded of beer and found the smoke somewhat harsh.

Several strain descriptions give myrcene as the predominant terpene, followed by pinene, with caryophyllene in 3rd place. The buds are described as dense, with orange hairs and golden-shimmering trichomes.

Genetics and Origin:

That Lion's Mane comes from Lemonnade is stated consistently by strain descriptions and a profile from 2020. Beyond that, little is established. The lineage is considered unknown, and even the classification is inconsistent: one description lists the strain as an indica-dominant hybrid, 2 others as a balanced hybrid with 50 % indica and 50 % sativa each. A single user report names a cross of Lemon Delight and Pura Vida; the breeder has not confirmed this.

Effects:

An euphoric, strongly head-centered effect is described, which some consumers perceive as psychedelic, combined with creativity, drive and a tingling in the body. The user reports read repeatedly describe the strain as relaxing, also cheerful to silly, occasionally focused and mood-lifting. Deviating from this, one reports a delayed onset, another an intensity that allowed everyday life only to a limited extent. One report missed the stimulating side emphasized in strain profiles: the strain had not made the user talkative or energetic.

Unwanted side effects named in reports and descriptions include dizziness with a woozy head, nervousness and paranoid thoughts, as well as dry mouth and dry eyes.

THC Content:

The available values come from strain descriptions and range from 21 to 24 % THC. One of them cites a lab report with 23.1 % THC and 0.14 % CBG, but names neither the lab nor the date or the sample. Another description gives 1 % CBG.

Versions from Different Breeders:

Feminized seeds under this name are listed by Crop King Seeds and Sunwest Genetics. Neither names parent strains or a link to Lemonnade; each classifies the strain as indica-dominant and gives nearly identical values: 8 to 9 weeks of flowering, around 300 g/m² indoors, 400 g per plant outdoors with harvest in October, 21 to 23.1 % THC and 0.5 % CBD. Both consider warm conditions favorable; Sunwest Genetics describes cultivation as easy. Whether this seed traces back to Lemonnade's plants cannot be gathered from either page.
