Permanent Marker from Seed Junky Genetics combines Biscotti, Sherb Bx1 and Jealousy; the strain's smell is compared to felt-tip markers and solvent.
Between 2019 and 2021, JBeezy, founder of Seed Junky Genetics in Los Angeles, built the line that produced Permanent Marker. He crossed a selfed Biscotti with a Sherb Bx1 male, then pollinated a selected female from that cross with an F2 Jealousy male. The cutting now traded under the name comes from this population.
Written out, the formula is (Biscotti S1 × Sherb Bx1) × Jealousy F2. The Sherbet line therefore appears on both sides: Sherb Bx1 is a backcross of Sunset Sherbert from GSC and Pink Panties, and the Jealousy male traces back to Sherb Bx1 and Gelato 41. Biscotti comes from Gelato and OG Kush.
The cutting was selected and named by Doja Pak, the Doja Exclusive brand from Los Angeles; before that it circulated as Adios MF and Gunnpowwder. Several accounts date the market launch on the US West and East Coasts to 2022, whereas one lineage overview gives 2020. In late 2023, a US strain portal named Permanent Marker Strain of the Year.
Seed Junky Genetics now uses the strain as a parent itself, for example for Scratch and Sniff (Gelato 41 × Animal Mints Bx × Permanent Marker), RS11 × Permanent Marker and Banana Cream Cake × Permanent Marker. Other offspring include Magic Marker, Sherb Cake and Permanent Pineapple.
The smell is compared to felt-tip markers, solvent and acetone, and ammonia also appears in descriptions. Behind this come gas and diesel, sweet notes of grape candy and creamy berries, floral tones and a soapy component that recalls Gelato in the flavor and lingers for a long time. Individual descriptions add mint, pepper and cookies, others, depending on the grow, vanilla, tobacco or menthol.
Reports describe a quick onset with a euphoric, uplifted mood, tingling, talkativeness and increased desire, followed later by physical relaxation. Focus and creativity are also mentioned, and one test describes a clear head with medium sedation. One report, however, found the strain mild and calming, while another felt prompted to move. Reported undesired effects include restlessness and paranoia, especially in inexperienced users, as well as headaches, dry eyes and dizziness.
Strain descriptions give 25 to 30 % THC, though individual batches may differ. One description puts CBD at 0 to 1 %.
A US hemp producer published a single measurement for an outdoor-grown batch: 21.57 % THCA and 19.10 % total THC; CBD was below the detection limit. Among the terpenes, β-caryophyllene (0.968 %) and limonene (0.580 %) led ahead of humulene (0.211 %), terpineol (0.206 %) and linalool (0.191 %). Myrcene, which some strain descriptions list first, was not among these 5; other profiles name caryophyllene, limonene and linalool as the defining terpenes.
For the feminized seeds from Seed Junky Genetics, one strain description gives around 70 days of flowering, while other profiles state 8 to 9 and 8 to 10 weeks respectively. A documented indoor grow with a cutting labeled Doja × Seed Junky reached about 70 days of flowering after 47 days of growth. The plants stretched strongly, needed supports and tolerated topping, LST and supercropping; toward the end the dense flowers turned purple. Another grower with a Doja Exclusive cutting, however, reports plants that stayed short.
Descriptions mention a vigorous growth habit that branches heavily after topping, cone-shaped, resinous flowers with heavy trichome coverage and likewise purple tones. On difficulty they diverge: one profile rates the strain as demanding and, because of its susceptibility to botrytis in damp weather, sees it more as an indoor plant, while another speaks of moderate effort. An outdoor grower with seeds from another supplier reported early powdery mildew on individual leaves.
Royal Queen Seeds states 55 to 65 days of flowering for its feminized version, indoor 500 to 550 g/m² at 80 to 120 cm height, outdoor 550 to 600 g per plant and harvest in October, plus up to 28 % THC. Zamnesia Seeds names 8 to 9 weeks, up to 550 g/m² indoors, up to 750 g per plant outdoors, harvest in late September and 31 % THC. Both suppliers list their versions at 70 % indica.
Blimburn Seeds lists the lineage as (Biscotti × Jealousy) × Sherb Bx and gives 50 % indica, 8 to 10 weeks of flowering, indoor 500 to 550 g/m², outdoor 700 to 850 g per plant and 32 to 34 % THC; the autoflower version with a ruderalis share is said to need 7 to 10 weeks from germination. Under the same name, Philosopher Seeds lists different genetics, Permanent Marker × Lemon Cherry Gelato, with 8 to 9 weeks of flowering, 25 to 30 % THC and harvest in the first 10 days of October. Atlas Seed and Super Strains also carry versions under the name.

Indicative values from breeder data and grow reports — varies by phenotype and setup
Strong stretching in one grow report, moderate to pronounced stretching according to strain descriptions; no factor documented.
Vigorous, heavily branched after topping; cone-shaped, resinous flowers. A grower with a Doja Exclusive cutting reports plants that stayed short.
Topping, LST and supercropping without problems in a documented indoor grow; supports needed because of strong stretching. One strain description recommends training and climbing aids.

Autoflower cross Permanent Marker × Ruderalis; height 150 cm without assignment to indoor or outdoor.
Cross Permanent Marker × Lemon Cherry Gelato; yield figures as lower limit (more than); outdoor height over 2.5 m; harvest in the first 10 days of October.

Measurements of individual samples. Values vary by batch, cultivation and phenotype.
Smell of felt-tip markers, solvent and gas; euphoric onset with later physical relaxation; dense flowers that can turn purple toward the end of flowering.
One report found the strain mild and calming, another found it activating. One indoor grow showed strong stretching with a need for supports, while another grower with a Doja Exclusive cutting reports plants that stayed short. An outdoor grow with seeds from another supplier showed early powdery mildew.
