The overall title at the 26th High Times Cannabis Cup in Amsterdam went in 2013 to an entry from The Green Place: Rollex OG Kush by The Devil's Harvest Seed Company. The strain combines White Fire OG from the breeding of OG Raskal with Kuchi, a line of the Amsterdam breeder's own. Although it is listed as indica-dominant, it grows tall and stretches in flower like a sativa.
Genetics and Origin:
According to its own account, The Devil's Harvest Seed Company was founded in Amsterdam by the breeders Daire and Paul; on its website the company points to Cup wins since 2012. For Rollex OG Kush the breeder names White Fire OG, also called WiFi OG, as the mother and a Kuchi male as the father. Other strain descriptions refer to the mother as a phenotype of White Fire from OG Raskal. Kuchi in turn is a Devil's Harvest cross of Cheese and SFV OG Kush.
The breeder now lists the strain as RLX OG Kush, with unchanged lineage and the same Cup successes. It is documented as feminized and as regular seed. Among other things it appears as a parent in Casey's Rollex OG by DutchFem, a cross with Casey Jones.
The 2013 success was followed at the Highlife Cup 2014 by a 1st place in each of the categories Best Cannabis and Kush. In 2018 the strain was entered there again, submitted by different participants: as Rollex OG Kush it won the Kush category, and as Rollex OG it took 2nd place among the indicas. The breeder also names 1st places at the Oregon Concentrate Challenge and the Oil Hunters Cup.
Aroma and Flavor:
Skunk, pine and cheese form the core of the aroma descriptions, with earthy notes added. A comparison of two versions shows how the breeder's presentation has shifted: the description published under the old name lists cheese and apple in the flavor, accompanied by skunk and diesel notes, while the current product page speaks of gas, a sharp note and pungent earth. Other descriptions mention sweet apple with hints of blueberry and citrus. As terpenes, Devil's Harvest lists myrcene and linalool; strain descriptions give myrcene as the dominant terpene, along with caryophyllene and limonene.
Effects:
User reports describe a two-stage course. First a stimulating, clearly cerebral effect sets in, which gradually gives way to physical relaxation. Elevated mood, euphoria and giddiness are also mentioned. Some consumers describe focus and creativity, others drowsiness. Dry mouth and dry eyes are named as side effects, occasionally paranoia, headache and throat irritation.
THC Content:
Devil's Harvest gives 25 % THC and more for the strain. Several largely identical strain descriptions state 20 to 23 %.
Cultivation:
The breeder estimates 55 to 65 days of flowering and considers the strain suitable for indoor and outdoor growing, with medium difficulty and high yield in both environments. For outdoor cultivation in the Northern Hemisphere the current product page names September as the harvest month; the older description, by contrast, says the plants can flower outdoors into October.
With 80 % indica according to the breeder, the growth habit hardly fits the classification. The plants grow tall, stretch after the onset of flowering like sativas and, according to strain descriptions, stay slender with thin leaves. The breeder describes the flowers as dense and resinous, while other sources mention large calyxes and heavy trichome coverage. One strain description places the strain more with experienced growers, recommends SCROG and a warm climate, and points out that the strong smell during flowering may make odor control necessary.
Versions from Different Breeders:
Alongside the original from Devil's Harvest, further versions are documented under the name. Royal King Seeds names Devil's Harvest as breeder and gives 8 to 9 weeks of flowering, 550 g/m² under LED, 17.5 to 21 % THC and 0.08 % CBD for its own feminized version. Unlike the original, the company describes the plants as bushy and compact, with 25 to 30 % height gain after the onset of flowering, and the aroma as sweet grape, pine and woody frankincense. A further feminized version is attributed to Norcal Farms; stated are 22 % THC, 2 % CBD, up to 550 g/m² and a low plant height.
Community Experiences:
In an outdoor report with 10 plants in large pots, shoots broke in late September under the weight of the flowers, although in the grower's assessment bracts and smell had not yet fully developed. Another report describes heavily frosted, dense buds with purple tones. On consumption, several reports emphasize strength and long duration of effect; others find smell and taste unremarkable or the strain solid but not outstanding.
