Fuel and dough sit close together in the aroma of Sour Cookies. Strain descriptions add a sharp pungency and hints of hash; the flavor is given as diesel, nuts and sweetness, alongside pine and a cheesy undertone. The hybrid traces back to a cross of Girl Scout Cookies (GSC) and Sour Diesel. Several breeders sell their own versions, one of them with a different lineage.
Aroma and Flavor:
User reports add citrus, wood, berries and vanilla and compare the taste to freshly baked cookies, though impressions differ depending on the product form. A Canadian producer that grows the strain in living soil describes its flowers as having chocolate and gas on the nose, a sweet, floral touch and a spicy, sour finish.
Genetics and Origin:
Sour Cookies is classed as a sativa-dominant hybrid. Figures differ on the exact share: one strain description gives 70 % sativa, another 60 %.
The strain appears as a parent in more recent crosses. Helium from the Cookies program comes from Sour Cookies and Cheetah Piss; the same parents are given for Sour Cheetah. Mamiko Seeds crossed its own version further with London Pound Cake from Cookie Fam Genetics to make Sour Forum Cookies.
Versions from Different Breeders:
Mamiko Seeds lists Sour Cookies as feminized seeds and names the parents more precisely: the Riri cut of Sour Diesel from the Reservoir Seeds stock and Girl Scout Cookies in the Forum S1 variant. The breeder classes its version as a mainly sativa-dominant hybrid for indoor and outdoor cultivation.
Under the almost identical name Sour Cookie, Atlas Seed offers a genetically different plant. Here Oreoz, itself a cross of Cookies & Cream and Secret Weapon, meets Sour Diesel. The feminized, photoperiod version belongs to the Multiverse Beans Preservation Line; it is listed at 19 to 25 % THC, with notes of sour citrus fruit, fuel and Cookies and Cream.
Effects:
Reports describe a head-focused, mood-lifting onset and mention talkativeness, creativity, euphoria and relaxation. According to these accounts, how the strain acts overall depends heavily on the amount. Small amounts are linked to focus and drive, larger ones to a heavy body effect that keeps people on the couch. Individual reports mention sleepiness, and one describes a delayed onset.
Reported unwanted effects include dry mouth, dry eyes and anxiety. Headaches and a feeling of pressure behind the eyes are mentioned in isolated cases; for one person the headaches were the reason not to use the strain any further.
THC and CBD Content:
A Canadian producer has published test results for 13 flower batches without naming the lab. They range from 20.417 to 23.66 % THC; where the CBD content is given as a number, it is 0.08 to 0.09 %. Values vary by batch, cultivation and phenotype. For 9 of these batches the same producer puts the terpene content at 1.43 to 3.22 % and lists ocimene as the dominant terpene, followed by farnesene, myrcene and caryophyllene.
The measured profile thus differs from strain descriptions that put caryophyllene ahead of limonene and myrcene. These also give 21 % THC and 0 % CBD.
Cultivation:
According to Mamiko Seeds, its own version grows vigorously in vegetation and flowering, and the internodes can be widely spaced. The breeder therefore advises controlling height and working with pruning or training techniques. The Canadian producer highlights bright purple leaves on its plants.
On flowering time, the strain descriptions contradict each other: one gives 46 to 60 days, another 8 to 10 weeks.
