Sour Gorilla

Whether Sour Gorilla is energizing or settles heavily into the body is not answered consistently by the user reports. Several consumers describe an alert, talkative high, while others notice mainly relaxation after the first rush and a distinct drop in energy at the end. The classification of the cross between Sour Diesel and Gorilla Glue #4 is just as divided: some strain descriptions list it as a sativa, others as a hybrid with a 65 % indica share.

Effects:

Reports repeatedly describe a fast onset, drive and elevated mood; several also mention talkativeness, creative ideas and concentration. One report speaks of a simultaneous up and down. Others, by contrast, describe physical relaxation, drowsiness and a noticeable fading toward the end. One strain description has the initial stimulation followed by an increasingly heavy body effect that can go as far as a reluctance to move. A trade magazine that reviewed a batch in 2021 described a strong body effect that stops just short of this.

Reported side effects are dry mouth and headache, as well as dizziness. Other strain descriptions additionally list dry eyes and paranoia.

Aroma and Flavor:

Diesel and a chemical note lead the descriptions. Reports add sweetness, and a hint of Gorilla Glue is also mentioned; one person disliked the sweet-chemical note so much that they would not buy the strain again. Other strain descriptions add tart citrus fruit and peppery spice, and one more lists musk, mint, chocolate and marshmallow. In the 2021 review, fuel dominates, with flowers and fruit emerging on the finish. Pinene, myrcene and caryophyllene are named as the defining terpenes, including by a Canadian producer.

Genetics and Origin:

The strain is attributed to Space GenetiX. According to the available information, the breeder combined a Sour Diesel clone labeled Riri-Cut with a cross of Gorilla Glue #4 and Polar Bear. Other strain descriptions shorten the lineage to Gorilla Glue #4 and Sour Diesel, and a US producer names Amherst Sour Diesel as a parent. The name Gorilla Diesel is also widely used.

Under this alias the strain is listed as a parent of Astro Lemonade and Cosmic Cheddar, 2 strains from Royal Queen Seeds. For Dark Matter Cake F1, the same breeder crossed Miracle Alien Cookies with a clone named Gorilla Diesel 3.

Versions from Different Breeders:

For the Space GenetiX version, only regular seeds are documented. The figures given are 9 to 10 weeks of flowering, tall growth and a large yield; the plants are considered predominantly sativa-leaning and are said to suit cultivation indoors and outdoors. Medusa Seed Bank is named as a further provider. Independent of any particular version, a grow report describes a plant 6 feet tall.

THC Content:

Strain descriptions give 15 to 23 % THC. For a batch from one producer, a trade magazine from Maryland published a single measurement in 2021 of 29.8 % THCA with a terpene content of 3 %, of which more than half was myrcene. The report does not say which laboratory analyzed the sample.
