Reports on Tropical Cookies mostly describe a stimulating strain that leaves people focused and talkative. A few consumers, by contrast, find it physically heavy and place it closer to the indicas. The same disagreement appears in the strain listings: the cross of Pineapple Skunk and Girl Scout Cookies from the Dutch seed bank Growers Choice is mostly listed as sativa-dominant, while one retailer calls it an indica-dominant hybrid.

Community Experiences:

The reports mainly cite focus, energy, creativity and an uplifted mood, along with silliness, talkativeness, tingling and increased arousal. A clear head is mentioned several times. One consumer describes a slow onset, another an effect duration of 3 to 4 hours with a slightly psychedelic note.

Others report mainly calm and relaxation, in one case a sleepy body with an alert mind. Side effects mentioned include dry mouth, dry eyes and dizziness. One report describes nervousness, a pounding heart and a strong urge to cough; in other reports the strain is considered overwhelming at higher doses.

Genetics and Origin:

For Tropical Cookies, Growers Choice crossed its own Pineapple Skunk with Thin Mint, a cut of Girl Scout Cookies that circulates only as a clone. Citing the breeder, a sativa share of 80 % is stated. According to retailer information it is an F1, and Growers Choice only intends to develop further generations after test grows with the preferred phenotypes.

Tropical Bubba by MadCat's Backyard Stash is documented as a descendant, a cross of Tropical Cookies with a line of Bubba Kush and SFV OG. For Double XL Tropical Cookies, also from Growers Choice, the information diverges: it is listed either as a cross of Tropical Cookies with itself or directly as Pineapple Skunk × Girl Scout Cookies.

Aroma and Flavor:

The strain description for the Growers Choice version puts ripe mango, pineapple and passionfruit first, accompanied by pine needles, wood and a tart lemon note. On the palate, sweet citrus notes are followed by earthy and woody tones with a light spiciness. Retailer information links pineapple with cookie and skunk and distinguishes phenotypes with a fresh grapefruit note from sweeter, cookie-dominated plants. Other strain descriptions list pineapple, mango and pear, with β-caryophyllene as the dominant terpene ahead of humulene and limonene.

Consumers describe the aroma as sweet, partly herbal and fruity, a few as lemony with pine and orange over a cookie dough note, as tropical with vanilla, or as floral. One report compares the smell to propane gas, while another found the taste earthy.

THC Content:

Citing Growers Choice, 24 to 26 % THC is stated; one retailer gives 21 to 25 % for the same version. Other strain descriptions list 21 % THC and 1 % CBG.

Cultivation:

For the Growers Choice version, a flowering time of about 8 weeks, indoor yields of 550 to 650 g/m² and heights of 110 to 140 cm indoors and 180 to 220 cm outdoors are stated. According to retailer information, the outdoor harvest takes place in September. The plants are described as compact and bushy, with sturdy stems and tightly spaced nodes. High resistance to mold, pests and cold is emphasized, attributed once to the skunk heritage and once to the Pineapple line; because of its early maturity the strain is considered suitable for outdoor cultivation in the northern hemisphere.

The flowers are described as dense yet spongy, elongated colas that can turn purple. The phenotypes are said to differ little in growth and to make the same demands on nutrients and climate; differences show mainly in aroma.

Versions from Different Breeders:

There is also an autoflower variant from Growers Choice under the name Tropical Cookies Double XL Auto. According to retailer information it needs 11 weeks in total, grows up to 130 cm tall and reaches up to 750 g/m² indoors and up to 200 g per plant outdoors, with up to 26 % THC.

Tropicana Cookies is genetically different, a cross of GSC and Tangie by Harry Palms (Bloom Seed Co) that also appears under the name Tropical Cookies. A live resin extract reviewed in 2021 under the name Tropical Cookies was likewise listed as GSC × Tangie.
