The sativa-leaning cross of Cherry Pie and Granddaddy Purple comes from Northern California and is also listed as Phantom Cookie. Sources disagree on who bred it.

According to the descriptions, nut, sweetness and wood dominate the flavor, with berry and grape alongside. One data sheet stresses a strong citrus flavor, while another lists a chemical note next to nut and citrus. User reports confirm the earthy base tone and widen the range to lemon, tropical citrus with berries, cherry, a mango-like fruit aroma, lemongrass with menthol and a light hint of diesel. In one report, mint and berry only emerge when the buds are crushed, while another piece of feedback found the flavor unpleasant.
One strain profile, based on lab analyses, names caryophyllene as the dominant terpene, followed by limonene and myrcene. Another description lists myrcene, beta-caryophyllene and linalool as the main terpenes.
Genetics and Origin:
The mother is Cherry Pie, itself a cross of Granddaddy Purple and Durban Poison; it was pollinated with a Granddaddy Purple plant. Granddaddy Purple, which is traced back to Purple Urkel and Big Bud, thus appears twice in the pedigree. Two strain profiles place the origin in Mendocino County. One profile puts the sativa share at 70 %, a growing description at 65 %. The same growing description mentions variants into which Bay Platinum Cookies is said to have been additionally crossed.
Phantom Cookies has been used repeatedly in breeding. Barneys Farm crossed it with OG Kush to make Phantom OG, and Garden of Green crossed it with Black Domina to make Phantom Cookies Domina. Versions from Different Breeders:
One strain profile assigns Phantom Cookies to Grand Daddy Purp and lists for this version regular, photoperiod seeds that never appeared feminized, a flowering time of about 60 days, 15 to 20 % THC and 0 to 1 % CBD. Another profile, by contrast, distinguishes between the original by the breeders from Mendocino and a line said to have been developed by Grand Daddy Purple Seeds in 2013: for this, Phantom Cookies is said to have been crossed with further hybrids into an indica-leaning strain with a high CBD share.
THC and CBD Content:
The THC figures in the strain profiles range from 15 to 21 %, with individual ones giving 20 % or up to 18 %. For CBD, the statements diverge. Figures of 0 %, 0.10 to 0.33 % and 0 to 1 % are opposed by a description that names a high CBD content without a number. A grower contradicts the latter in a user report and describes the strain as rich in THC.
Effects:
First described is a euphoric, uplifted head effect that consumers portray as creative and sociable; at a higher dose, according to one profile, physical relaxation is added. Some user reports describe drive and focus, others a heavy body effect ranging to sluggishness or tiredness. Cultivation:
For indoor flowering, two strain profiles give 8 to 9 weeks; outdoors, harvest is due in early October. One of them mentions topping and SCROG to increase yield. A growing description considers some growing skill necessary, prefers indoor cultivation, sees a greenhouse as an option and names a temperate to warm climate for outdoors. At harvest, the buds show green and purple tones, bright orange pistils and dense trichome coverage.
