Green Avenger

Mr Soul of Brothers Grimm bred Green Avenger as a thank-you to a colleague. He meant Subcool of TGA Genetics, who had kept working with Brothers Grimm genetics during the years when the company was off the market. By his own account, Soul phoned him to say thanks and announced a strain in his honor. For it he crossed his Genius clone with a selected Vortex male from Subcool's breeding. One seed retailer traces the name back to the abbreviation TGA, which it expands as The Green Avengers.

Genetics and Origin:

The mother Genius is regarded as one of the Apollo 11 phenotypes; Brothers Grimm kept it as a clone. Vortex comes from Subcool and combines Apollo 13 with Space Queen, a cross of Romulan and Cinderella 99. Because Genius goes back to Apollo 11, some strain descriptions give the lineage as Vortex × Apollo 11. One of them names Subcool and TGA Genetics as breeders alongside Brothers Grimm; the other sources attribute the strain to Brothers Grimm alone.

Accounts differ on classification. The breeder calls Green Avenger a sativa-dominant hybrid, a seed retailer puts the sativa share at 60 %, and other descriptions see a balanced hybrid. It was offered as regular seed, and according to one strain description never in feminized form.

Cultivation:

Brothers Grimm states a flowering time of 56 to 63 days under 12/12 lighting. According to the breeder, the plants reach 36 to 48 inches and yield 3 to 5 ounces per plant. The growth is described as compact and heavily branched, in a Christmas tree shape with short internodes and strong branches; the dense, resin-covered flowers show deep green with orange tones. The breeder advises keeping the tree shape and removing the innermost nodes of the branches so that large colas form at the branch tips. According to the breeder, supports are needed as the situation requires. The strain is considered suitable for indoor and outdoor cultivation.

One documented grow confirms the compact growth. After 2 months of vegetation the plant stayed low and barely stretched in flower. Instead of continuous colas it formed thick single flowers made of large calyxes with plenty of resin. It was harvested after 62 days of flowering, with a yield of 3.14 ounces.

Aroma and Flavor:

Brothers Grimm describes the scent as sweet and pungent, marked by tropical fruit with a citrus aftertaste; in smoke a citrus and pineapple flavor is said to unfold. Other strain descriptions additionally list mango, mint and cheese, along with honey and nutty and earthy notes. They name caryophyllene as the dominant terpene, followed by humulene and terpinolene.

In one user report the flavor recalled green tea with honey and nut. In the documented grow, the plant smelled strongly of tropical fruit in early flowering, mixed with a note reminiscent of vomit, and of sandalwood toward the end. The dried flowers there tasted of papaya with a musky finish.

Effects:

According to Brothers Grimm, the effect comes on as a quick euphoric rush, stimulating and felt strongly in the head; it can make novice users paranoid. User reports paint a similar picture. They describe energy, euphoria and elevated mood, some also creativity or focus. One report highlights the rapid onset during which control was maintained, another describes a relaxed yet active state. In the documented grow the strain was clearly stimulating and later turned into tiredness.

As undesired side effects, strain descriptions list dry mouth, dry eyes and headaches. In one user report the headaches persisted regardless of the form of consumption, another mentions dry eyes.

THC Content:

Strain descriptions give 18 to 22 % THC. One of them additionally lists 1 % CBG.
