Biker Kush

When High Times reported on Karma Genetics in 2014, the magazine counted the breeder among the first in Europe to turn to the Kush genetics widespread in the USA; Karma's White OG had taken 3rd place at the Cannabis Cup in Amsterdam in 2010. Biker Kush comes out of this work with the OG family. Karma backcrossed the strain over several generations to an OG cut that the breeder lists as HA-OG, and released it only as regular seeds.

Genetics and Origin:

It starts with Lucifer OG, a cross of HA-OG and SFV OG Kush BX2. Karma paired Lucifer OG with HA-OG once more; this produced the 1st backcross, which is listed as Biker Kush or Biker Kush V1. Other strain descriptions resolve HA-OG as Hell's Angel OG or Hell's OG and give the lineage accordingly as Hell's OG × Lucifer OG. One of them also speaks of a 2nd backcross, which contradicts the breeder's sequence of generations.

With Biker Kush V2.0, Karma continued the line and crossed V1 to HA-OG again. The descriptions of the current seeds under the name Biker Kush give exactly this lineage, HA-OG × Biker Kush V1, and refer to a 1st place in the Rosin category at the 2015 Ganja Time Cup in Spain. On classification the sources diverge: it ranges from predominantly indica, with an indica share of 75 % or 80 %, to a balanced hybrid.

Biker Kush is also documented as a parent. For Biker Mints, Karma combined Kush Mints from Seed Junky Genetics with a Biker Kush male listed as phenotype #81. A feminized cross with K-Mintz is attributed to Ripper Seeds. In a documented hobby project, a V2 plant served as mother for Biker Slush, pollinated by a Lemon Slush male from Dungeon Vault Genetics.

Cultivation:

For the 1st backcross, Karma gives a flowering time of 9 to 11 weeks. The breeder describes Kush-style growth with vining shoots and pronounced stretch, which is why the plants need supports during flowering. According to Karma, the buds come out dark green and hard. The strain can be grown indoors and outdoors.

For the seeds with the lineage HA-OG × Biker Kush V1, 10 to 11 weeks are given. There too, support is mentioned, because the heavy top buds pull the shoots downward toward the end of flowering; the buds are described as dense and very firm. The descriptions rate the yield of this version differently, as medium, medium to high, or high. One of them names topping, LST and SCROG as suitable training methods.

Another strain description paints a different picture. It portrays a compact plant with lateral branching, gives 8 to 10 weeks of flowering indoors and assigns the strain to a mild to warm climate; there too, buds are mentioned whose weight weighs down the branches.

Community Experiences:

A grower in Canada took 16 female plants from Biker Kush seeds into flowering and kept one of them for a 2nd run. Another report documents a single V2 plant that stayed unremarkable in weeks 3 to 4 of flowering and only in weeks 6 to 7 developed firm, golf-ball-sized buds on pliable shoots. It was densely covered in trichomes and smelled strongly of gasoline and pine cleaner. One consumer describes dried buds as hard and light green, cone-shaped with orange hairs; one strain description, by contrast, calls them heart-shaped and forest green with dark purple leaves.

Aroma and Flavor:

Karma sums up the scent as lemon and Kush with a note of the cleaner Pine-Sol. This blend of citrus, pine and earth runs through the strain descriptions, supplemented by diesel, herbs, floral earth tones and a sour spiciness that is said to become stronger when the buds are broken up. In flavor, spice and fruit meet sour citrus notes on the exhale, along with wood and pine; one description also mentions apricot and a chemical edge. Consumers report peppery, floral-spicy smoke, a nose of gas, and hints of diesel and cinnamon.

Strain descriptions give limonene as the leading terpene, followed by myrcene and caryophyllene. Another lists humulene, terpinolene and delta-3-carene instead.

Effects:

Consumers describe a relaxing effect with elevated mood, euphoria and a tendency to giggle. Several accounts place a noticeable effect in the head at the start, followed by heavy physical relaxation, in individual reports to the point of sleepiness. Others highlight focus, talkativeness, creativity or drive, and one consumer found that the strain did not act like an indica despite its classification. Dry mouth, dry eyes and dizziness are named as side effects, occasionally also paranoia, racing heart, pressure on the eyes and harsh smoke.

THC Content:

The figures vary widely. One strain description gives 14 % THC, others 21 to 26 % or 23 to 25 %. A producer from Arizona reports 24.26 % THC for a flower batch without naming a lab. In reviews, consumers refer to products with 26.08 % and 30 % THC. Such values vary by batch, cultivation and phenotype.
