Since 2008, a breeder named Mike has been breeding under the name Exotic Genetix in the US state of Washington. Falcon 9 comes from this program, a cross of Sunset Sherb and the in-house Tina. Exotic Genetix has worked the strain into a long series of its own crosses, and on the breeder's website a seed category carries the name Falcon-9.
Genetics and Origin:
Sunset Sherb is listed as the mother, tracing back to Girl Scout Cookies and Pink Panties. The father, Tina, is an F2 line of Constantine and Triple OG, both likewise Exotic Genetix breeds. According to a 2020 interview with the breeder, Tina won the Best Indica category at the High Times SoCal Harvest Cannabis Cup in 2017. Exotic Genetix classes Falcon 9 as an indica-leaning hybrid with 70 % indica and 30 % sativa.
Not all sources follow this pedigree. A US supplier names Super Sherb instead of Sunset Sherb as a parent for a pre-roll product, and another strain description gives a completely different lineage with Apple Fritter and RS11. Each of these claims stands alone against the matching data from the other sources.
The Exotic Genetix program has produced, among others, Project 9 from Chimera and Falcon 9, Falcon Heavy from Scotty 2 Hotty and Falcon 9, Galactic Runtz from Falcon 9 and Runtz, and Falcon Berry from Falcon 9 and Red Pop. Neon Sunshine, a cross with The Original Z, is sold as flower in Canada.
Aroma and Flavor:
The common denominator in the descriptions is a note of fuel and gas. Added to this are sweet citrus notes, which one strain description portrays as orange-like with a hint of sugared dough, as well as earthy and sour-fruity components. Another text mentions a rubbery smell with a kush note, and a further one a creamy taste reminiscent of ice cream. Consumer reports add tea, wood, nuts and spices, and vanilla and chestnut are named as well.
Effects:
The effect is described as beginning in the head and then shifting into the body, accompanied by tingling and relaxation. Consumers differ on how strongly the strain sedates: some describe it as heavy and sleep-inducing, while others stayed active and mentally alert and report creativity and giddiness. One report stresses that even a small amount had a clear effect. Dry mouth is named as a side effect.
THC Content:
The figures differ widely. One strain description lists 16 % THC. Two individual published test values, both without a named laboratory, were 22.85 % for a pre-roll and 23.34 %; such values vary by batch, cultivation and phenotype. The measurement of 23.34 % showed caryophyllene as the strongest terpene, followed by limonene and humulene. Caryophyllene and limonene also lead in a second strain description, there supplemented by pinene.
Cultivation:
For the photoperiod strain, Exotic Genetix gives a flowering time of 56 to 63 days, while another strain description states 55 to 65 days. The breeder rates Falcon 9 as medium in height and high-yielding, names indoor and outdoor cultivation and suggests training it into a multi-topped bush. According to the breeder's data, the seeds are regular.
A seed retailer also lists a feminized box set edition from Exotic Genetix with differing data: Sherbet and Tina as parents, 63 to 70 days of flowering, 40 % indica and 60 % sativa, and 20 to 25 % THC. This contradicts the statement that Falcon 9 was never available feminized.
In the descriptions, the flowers appear dark green to dark purple with bright orange pistils and dense trichome coverage; consumer reports call them compact.
