Grape Gas #7, GG7 for short, is attributed in strain descriptions to the breeder True Canna Genetics, where it is listed as an indica-dominant cross of Purple Halitosis and The One. For the feminized seed line Grape Gas from the same breeder, an almost identical pedigree is given, but with The Truth as the second parent, an indica from the breeder's own program. Several crosses by other breeders with their own lineage also exist under the shorter name Grape Gas.
Genetics and Origin:
The seed line information names Purple Halitosis #4 and The Truth as parents, without distinguishing mother and father. One strain pedigree replaces Purple Halitosis #4 with a cross of OG Chem and Grand Daddy Purple. The sources also differ in classification: Grape Gas #7 is described as indica-dominant, the seed line as a hybrid with no proportions given.
The Truth traces back to Triangle Kush and a cross of SFV OG Kush and a Chemdawg backcross (ChemD BX2). According to the strain information, it took 2nd place in the Indica category at the High Times Cannabis Cup 2014.
By its own account, the breeder behind True Canna Genetics previously worked for Reservoir Seeds, H3ad Seeds and Connoisseur Genetics. Other breeders have used the Grape Gas seed line further; pedigrees list it as a parent of Double Grape Gas and Red Hot Grapes (both Robin Hood Seeds), Snake Milk and Tiger Fur OG (Kingsmen Genetics), Jelly Fart (Underworld Genetix) and Flight of the Concords (Prima).
Aroma and Flavor:
For Grape Gas #7, strain descriptions list grape, diesel and a chemical note. One of them names myrcene as the dominant terpene, followed by limonene and caryophyllene. The description of the seed line puts grape and citrus first, adding a zesty freshness and a sweet diesel note.
In the user reports, the combination of grape and fuel recurs. One report describes a mild grape when smoked that turns candy-like and strong in the aftertaste; others mention citrus or an earthy undertone, one the very pungent smell.
THC Content:
One strain description gives 22 % THC and 1 % CBG for Grape Gas #7.
Effects:
The user reports do not paint a uniform picture. Some describe a stimulating effect with talkativeness, focus and creative impulses alongside elevated mood; one report combines a strong head effect with physical calm. Others put relaxation and euphoria first, partly with silliness, and place the strain on the indica side. One of these reports expressly notes that the relaxation did not turn into lethargy. The effect is described as strong several times.
One person found the strain too stimulating and reported restlessness and anxiety. Another report mentions dry mouth; strain descriptions also list paranoia and anxiety as side effects.
Cultivation:
For the Grape Gas seed line from True Canna Genetics, only feminized, photoperiod seeds are described. Flowering time is given as 8 to 10 weeks, and the yield as medium to high. The strain information provides for indoor and outdoor cultivation; one strain profile also lists the greenhouse.
Versions from Different Breeders:
Several breeders have released strains named Grape Gas with entirely different lineage. Compound Genetics crossed Grape Gasoline with Jet Fuel Gelato, THC Design Cherry Pie with Grape Stomper. The feminized Grape Gas from Candies Seed Co comes from a Grape Gas and Nicole, for which the breeder states 8 to 10 weeks of flowering. Twenty 20 Genetics lists a feminized autoflower variant made from Grape Gas and Honey Badger; one pedigree attributes its Grape Gas portion, with reservation, to the True Canna Genetics line. How easily the lines get mixed up is shown by a strain profile attributed to True Canna Genetics that nonetheless names the parents of the Compound version.
