55 days of flowering and a stretch of about 400 %: that is how an indoor grow documented the development of Lilly, whose plants grew from around 20 to around 100 cm over that period. The sativa-leaning strain was bred by Delicatessen from a Congo line and its own Queen Mother; because of its scent of tropical fruit, it carries the nickname Pina Colada.

Cultivation:

Delicatessen states a flowering time of 7 to 8 weeks and a medium to high yield, and lists the strain as suitable for indoor and outdoor growing. Another user report arrives at 50 to 58 days and a harvest before September.

Reports differ on growth habit. In the documented grow, the plants developed vigorously and produced numerous very long side branches carrying many thick buds; during flowering they needed supports and plenty of room upward. The second report, by contrast, describes an indica-like structure with an equally short flowering time.

The grower of the documented run rated the strain as suitable for beginners. It required little care and little fertilizer, showed no susceptibility to mold and tolerated temperature extremes well. Dried, the buds were firm and compact; the grower rated the bud-to-leaf ratio as very good and the yield as slightly above average.

Genetics and Origin:

Delicatessen names Dream & Honey as one parent, a cross of two Congo selections that was formerly listed as Jauja. The other, Queen Mother, also known as Reina Madre, traces back to La Reunion and a cross of an unspecified sativa with Congo. The breeder describes Lilly as a stabilized hybrid that resembles a pure sativa in practically every respect, highlights the short flowering time and lists it exclusively as feminized seed.

Other breeders have crossed the strain repeatedly. Ripper Seeds combined it with White Widow and with OG Badazz, Vida Verde Seeds with Deep Chunk to make Lilly Chunk, Mr. Hide Seeds with OG Kush to make Mr. Lilly OG, and Terpenos with Malawi to make Lillawi. Delicatessen itself used it for Upstream, a cross with Himalaya Gold, and Nurse Lilly CBD from Expert Seeds probably descends from Alice and Lilly.

Aroma and Flavor:

According to Delicatessen, the strain owes its nickname to the strong smell of tropical fruit given off by the abundant, sticky resin. User reports mention pineapple and sugar in the scent, and nectar, pineapple and wood in the taste. One report adds coconut, while another found the taste earthy. A strain description lists pineapple, tropical fruit and tree fruit and gives myrcene, pinene and limonene as the dominant terpenes, though without measured values.

Effects:

User reports describe the effect as stimulating and activating, with elevated mood; one report mentions talkativeness. Another describes a mix of calming relaxation and stimulation. In the documented grow, the effect was rated as strong and long-lasting. Dry eyes and dry mouth are listed as side effects.

THC Content:

A strain description gives 21 % THC and 1 % CBG for Lilly.

Versions from Different Breeders:

Under the names CBD Lilly and Lilly CBD, likewise with the nickname Pina Colada, other strain profiles describe a CBD-dominant line from Congo IBL and Queen Mother, without naming a breeder. One of these descriptions gives 4 to 6 % THC and 12 to 15 % CBD, another a ratio of CBD to THC of about 3:1.
