Tangerine Power

Grow reports on Tangerine Power diverge most on the ratio of flowers to leaves. One grower praises many thick flowers on the side branches with little leaf, while another calls the yield from the cuttings disappointing and the leaf share extremely high; at least the leaves are said to be so resinous that they suit extracts. Sin City Seeds bred the strain from Agent Orange and their in-house Blue Power. Several descriptions list it as a sativa-dominant hybrid with a 70 % sativa share.

Cultivation:

For the feminized version, Sin City Seeds states around 60 days of flowering and 300 to 400 g/m² and names indoor, outdoor and greenhouse as locations. According to these details, the outdoor harvest falls between late September and early October. Another description of the same version allows 8 to 9 weeks, rates the yield as medium and recommends LST for more even lighting.

The evaluation of 2 indoor grows gives 63 to 65 days of flowering. The plants grew from about 35 cm at the start of flowering to around 90 cm, stable and with many side branches; one of the growers considers the strain suitable for SCROG and supercropping. The dried flowers came out hard and compact, and the plants tolerated over- or underfeeding. 2 clearly different phenotypes were observed. In these reviews the strain is rated as difficult for beginners. Another report describes a plant that grew differently from the rest of the stock and bore mostly sugar leaves instead of flowers.

The reported hermaphrodite problems concern regular seeds. According to one review, the breeder's regular seeds tended toward hermaphrodites and could only be stabilized through selection. A comment from 2018 describes 2 runs: from 5 seeds came 2 male plants and 3 hermaphrodites, and the second time 2 male and 2 hermaphroditic plants, which formed male flowers at the start of the 3rd week of flowering.

Genetics and Origin:

Agent Orange comes from MZJill Genetics according to the pedigree details and combines Orange Velvet with Jack the Ripper from Subcool's program. Blue Power is a cross of Sin City Seeds' own: the clone Power from Sour Dubble and SoCal Master Kush meets White Moonshine, a combination of The White with Blue Moonshine from DJ Short. One description gives Tangie Power as another name, while another lists, without a breeder, a differing lineage from Tangerine Haze and Power Plant.

In breeding, the strain served several times as a parent. Sin City Seeds crossed it with Raskal Berries to make Blood Tangerine and with SinMint Cookies to make Tangerine SinMint. At Natural Genetics Seeds, Mandarine Cookies came from Tangerine Power and a cross of Tangerine Power with Girl Scout Cookies; Red Bee Seeds used it for Baba Looey and Boulder Queen.

Aroma and Flavor:

Citrus and orange with a sweet touch dominate the strain descriptions, while Sin City Seeds itself speaks of tangerine with a kush note. One description adds earth and berries. Consumers describe the flavor as sweet tangerine, in places with berries, lime or a little wood. Two of them, by contrast, found the strain gassy, and another tasted more vanilla than orange.

The terpene details differ: strain descriptions rank myrcene ahead of limonene and pinene, while a description of the Sin City version names myrcene, caryophyllene and humulene.

Effects:

User reports repeatedly describe an energizing, euphoric effect with a clear head and focus, accompanied by calm. One report describes the state as calm and energized at once. Creativity and talkativeness come with it, and for some a tingling body feeling. The effect builds slowly and, according to individual reports, ends rather abruptly. Growers describe it as very strong and long lasting, while a consumer report mentions about 1 hour.

In contrast, individual consumers felt sleepy, became quiet and withdrawn or struggled to concentrate; one found the strain rather weak. Reported side effects are dry mouth, heavy eyes, slight dizziness, occasional anxiety and mild paranoia. Other strain descriptions add dry eyes and headache.

THC Content:

A description of the Sin City version gives 20 to 25 % THC. Other strain descriptions start lower, one of them at 15 to 21 %.

Versions from Different Breeders:

Under the same name and with the same lineage, Royal King Seeds lists a feminized version without mentioning Sin City Seeds. The supplier gives 55 to 65 days of flowering, up to 550 g/m² indoors and up to 400 g per plant outdoors, harvest from late September to October, as well as 19 to 24 % THC and 0.1 % CBD. For climate it specifies warm Mediterranean conditions with a long season; for aroma it describes sweet fruit, pepper and pine.
