Sunset Runtz as the mother, Scotty 2 Hotty as the father: Exotic Genetix, a breeder based in the US state of Washington, crossed these two strains in 2022 to create Vice City. Lineage records also list both parent strains under this breeder. One strain description links the name to the television series Miami Vice. Exotic Genetix now marks the strain as discontinued on its website.
Genetics and Origin:
Sunset Runtz combines Sunset Sherbet and Runtz, while Scotty 2 Hotty traces back to Biscotti and Rainbow Chip. Further back in the lineage are, among others, Girl Scout Cookies, OG Kush, and Gelato.
Sources differ on how strongly indica or sativa predominates. Strain descriptions classify Vice City as a balanced hybrid, while a retailer description of the Exotic Genetix seeds calls it indica-dominant. One strain profile deviates on parentage, naming Trophy Wife and Mandarin Cookies as parents while still attributing the strain to Exotic Genetix; all other descriptions name Sunset Runtz and Scotty 2 Hotty.
Versions from Different Breeders:
Hidden Group Genetics carries a genetically different strain of the same name, as feminized seeds from Jealousy and Gary Payton.
Several seed companies also offer their own feminized Vice City with the Sunset Runtz x Scotty 2 Hotty lineage. Crop King Seeds lists 8 to 9 weeks of flowering for its version, 500 to 600 g/m² indoors, 800 g per plant outdoors, and 19 to 27 % THC with 1 % CBD; according to the seller, outdoor harvest falls in late September to early October. Blimburn Seeds likewise states 8 to 9 weeks and 500 to 600 g/m², with 500 to 600 g per plant outdoors and 25 to 28 % THC.
Cultivation:
For the original Exotic Genetix version, which was only available as feminized seed, retailer descriptions list a flowering time of 56 to 63 days. The plant reportedly grows bushy with several main stems to a medium to tall height and shows little stretch after the switch to flowering. Cultivation indoors and outdoors is considered possible, and one retailer description rates the difficulty as moderate. The strain is said to respond well to low-stress training and ScrOG.
Sources disagree on resistance. One strain description considers Vice City resistant to mold and pests, while the Blimburn Seeds growing guide instead notes susceptibility to powdery mildew, spider mites, and aphids.
The buds are described as compact and grape-shaped, dark green with purple patches and orange pistils, and densely coated in resin.
Aroma and Flavor:
Strain descriptions cite blueberry and cherry over a spicy diesel note in the aroma, with one description additionally mentioning blue cheese. The flavor is dominated by sweet berry fruit along with earthy, sometimes nutty and woody notes. Consumer reports are less consistent: they mention grape with diesel or sweet fuel with an earthy undertone, one report cites maple, peach, and herbal spice, and another cites spiced tea, pine, and cookie dough with vanilla.
Effects:
Users report a euphoric, uplifted mood with giggliness and relaxation. Experiences diverge on the character of the effect. Some consumers describe a stimulating state with creativity and focus, while others report tiredness; one report links the sedating side to larger amounts. Reports cite dry mouth and initial paranoia as side effects, while strain descriptions additionally list dry eyes, dizziness, and headaches.
THC and CBD Content:
Strain descriptions state 19 to 27 % THC. CBD is reported in only one analysis, at 0.07 %.
Lab Results:
Two batches of medical flower of this strain were measured by ClearSight Labs at 26.07 % and 27.57 % THC, with THCA levels of 29.05 and 30.58 %. A further batch showed 24.11 % THC and 0.12 % CBG, without the testing lab being named. Across the 3 measurements, THC content thus ranges from 24.11 to 27.57 %; values vary by batch, cultivation, and phenotype.
In the terpene profile, limonene ranked first in all 3 analyses, at 0.71 to 1.05 %. Caryophyllene reached 0.48 to 0.9 %. The two ClearSight measurements then each show 0.43 % myrcene, along with humulene, alpha-pinene, and linalool. In the third batch, farnesene followed limonene at 0.75 %, with total terpene content there at 4.03 %. Strain descriptions, by contrast, name myrcene as the dominant terpene, ahead of caryophyllene and humulene.
