Jelly Donut is an indica-dominant hybrid from Raw Genetics, bred from Purple Punch and French Toast and described with violet-colored flowers and notes of grape and berries.
Deep purple areas among forest-green foliage, covered by a dense layer of milky trichomes: this is how strain profiles describe the mature plants of Jelly Donut, and one user report also mentions the dark purple coloring of the flowers. The indica-dominant hybrid of Purple Punch and French Toast comes from Raw Genetics. According to a press report, the breeder was founded in Los Angeles in 2014; its best-known lines include Zikigai, Z Pie and Zlushiez.
For the regular seeds from Raw Genetics, a flowering time of 60 to 70 days is given. Another strain description lists 8 to 10 weeks and describes bushy, medium-sized plants that stretch only slightly after the switch to flowering and form strong, sticky top shoots under sodium vapor lamps. Orange pistils stand out there against the thick, resin-covered buds.
Besides the regular seeds from Raw Genetics, several seed companies carry feminized Jelly Donut seeds with the same stated lineage. Rocket Seeds and Crop King Seeds give identical details: 57 to 60 days of flowering, a height of 76.2 to 152.4 cm indoors and 152.4 to 203.2 cm outdoors, outdoor harvest in mid-October and a Mediterranean climate as a favorable condition, along with 12.62 to 14.88 % THC and 0.27 to 0.82 % CBD. Growers Choice states 45 to 55 days of flowering and 23 % THC for its version and points to good air circulation and controlled humidity during flowering.
Plants with a different lineage also circulate under the name. Some strain descriptions list Jelly Donut as a cross of Girl Scout Cookies and Louis XIII without naming a breeder. A Canadian producer sells flowers of a selection from Biscotti and Sunset Sherbet that comes from a seed pack by Jungle Boys. Separate strains with a similar name are Jelly Donutz from Humboldt Seed Company, a cross of Hella Jelly and Runtz, and Jelly Donuts from Holy Smoke Seeds, from Jelly Tots and Pancakes, for which the breeder states 8 weeks of flowering and over 30 % THC.
Grape, berries and sage form the core of the profile in the strain descriptions; one of them adds a sugary pastry note said to recall a filled donut. User reports compare the taste to raspberry jelly or sour fruit candies and in several cases describe a sweet base with a skunky or gassy edge. One report found the taste odd, another found the smoke harsher than expected. Strain descriptions name pinene as the leading terpene, followed by myrcene and caryophyllene.
For the cross of Purple Punch and French Toast, strain descriptions give around 20 % THC, one of them adding 1 % CBG.
User reports describe Jelly Donut as relaxing, combined with giggliness, elevated mood and euphoria. Some report hunger and tiredness later on, others stress that the relaxation does not turn into drowsiness and leaves the head little clouded. Impressions differ on strength: reports of a strong, slow-onset effect are set against the view that the strain is rather weak. Occasionally consumers mention creativity, focus, talkativeness and a tingling in the body.
Side effects mentioned are dry mouth and dry eyes, along with dizziness and, in individual reports, headaches.

Relaxing effect combined with giggliness, elevated mood and euphoria; taste sweet and fruity (grape, berries, raspberry jelly, fruit candies), partly with a skunky or gassy edge. Side effects mentioned: dry mouth, dry eyes, dizziness, occasionally headaches.
Some of the reports describe tiredness and hunger, others stress a non-sedating relaxation with little grogginess. Strength rated inconsistently: strong and slow-onset versus rather weak. Individual reports found the taste odd or the smoke harsh, respectively; one report doubts the lineage and names Humboldt as the original breeder (mix-up with Jelly Donutz).
