The scent of ripe mango runs through the user reports on Mango Kush, an indica-leaning cross of Mango and Hindu Kush. The accounts of its effects, however, differ widely. Who originally bred the strain is not clearly documented. Seeds under the name are offered by Nirvana Seeds and Zamnesia, among others, although Nirvana Seeds names OG Kush rather than Hindu Kush as a parent of its own version.
Community Experiences:
Some consumers describe the strain as stimulating and sociable, and a few also felt focused or clear-headed. Others report relaxation, a heavy body feel and tiredness that went as far as falling asleep. In between are reports describing elevated mood, giggling and a tingling in the body. A delayed onset of effects is mentioned several times.
Several reports name dry mouth as a side effect; one consumer was nervous at first before the relaxation set in. Strain descriptions also list dry or red eyes, dizziness and headaches. The reports disagree on the smoke, which some found mild and others harsh, and on potency, which varied depending on who supplied the flower.
The cultivation feedback comes from growers of the Zamnesia version. According to these reports, between 1 and 3 of every 3 seeds germinated. One grower raised a 230 cm plant outdoors, while the breeder states 150 cm; another harvested little from a plant that stayed small, and a further one reports a high yield. One report explicitly mentions sticky, resinous flowers.
Genetics and Origin:
Zamnesia and other strain descriptions trace Mango Kush back to Mango and Hindu Kush. Nirvana Seeds, by contrast, names OG Kush as the crossing partner and describes the Mango parent as a line of KC 33 and Afghan; KC Brains distributes its strain Mango under this pedigree. Zamnesia puts the indica share of its own version at 65 %, while Nirvana Seeds says the strain is predominantly indica-influenced.
Mango Kush has left its mark in breeding. Humboldt Seed Company combined it with Mango Trees and Sherbert to make Mango Sherbert, and GG4 and Mango Kush are listed as the parents of Gorilla OG.
Aroma and Flavor:
Nirvana Seeds describes a Kush flavor mixed with mango, banana and pineapple, while Zamnesia emphasizes honey and floral undertones. Other strain descriptions add earthy and pungent tones as well as a hint of pine on the exhale. Consumers compare the taste to fresh mango and also name banana, earthy sweetness and a gasoline-like Kush note; some tasted wood and pine rather than fruit. One strain description lists myrcene as the dominant terpene, followed by caryophyllene and humulene, whereas Zamnesia names ocimene.
THC and CBD Content:
Nirvana Seeds gives 16 to 19 % THC for its version, Zamnesia 18 % THC with 0 to 1 % CBD. One strain description states 21 % THC and 1 % CBG, another a CBD content of about 0.3 %.
Cultivation:
Cultivation descriptions portray a compact, bushy plant with very dense flowers, orange pistils and a thick coat of trichomes. According to one of these descriptions, the stocky growth also gives good yields on a small area, for example in a Sea of Green, and it rates the yield as high. Flowering time is given as 9 to 11 weeks, and the difficulty is rated moderate, as it is by Zamnesia.
A high nutrient demand with additional calcium and magnesium is described. The plant reacts sensitively to wetness: heavy rain during flowering does not suit it, and humidity of around 50 % and very good air circulation are mentioned. According to the same description, pruning and a support grid are part of its care, and according to Zamnesia the strain responds to topping and LST.
