Strawberry Guava is an indica-dominant cross of Strawberry Banana and Papaya from Oni Seed Co, credited with 2 placings at the 2017 Chalice Festival.

Research as of 10/12/2026

One looks in vain for the name Strawberry Guava in the results list of the 2017 Chalice Festival, and yet the strain is credited with 2 awards there. Bloom Seed Co cites 2nd place for best solventless concentrate and 1st place for the highest terpene content in that class. The winners' list published at the time shows, at exactly those ranks, an entry called “Strawnana Gou Papaya” by Kenn Wall and Harry Palms, whose name contains the two parent lines of the cross: Oni Seed Co bred the indica-dominant hybrid from Strawberry Banana and Papaya.

Genetics and Origin:

Bloom Seed Co specifies the parents as a StrawNana cut labeled 14 and a rare Papaya cut, and lists the strain itself as S1, that is, a selfing of the Oni plant. Both company names are linked to Harry Palms: he is listed as a co-founder of Oni Seed Co, and Bloom Seed Co is likewise attributed to him. One strain description traces the lines back further, Strawberry Banana to Banana Kush and a strawberry phenotype of Bubble Gum, Papaya to Mango #33 from KC Brains and Afghani #1. The classification there is 60 % indica to 40 % sativa; other descriptions weight the indica share higher, and a single one rates the strain as sativa-dominant.

How old the seed stock is shows in a 2026 report from a Californian trade magazine: according to it, an indoor producer from Oakland bought the seeds at the Chalice Festival in 2015, stored them for roughly 10 years and only took them into propagation in 2025. In the selection, the plant competed against 700 other phenotypes, of which about 200 were flowered out fully.

Bloom Seed Co used the strain as a parent for Melted Strawberries (with GMO), Rainbow Guava and Guava Pie, among others; Di Fruity comes from Karma Genetics and Dulce Dreams from Compound Genetics.

Aroma and Flavor:

The breeder describes a flavor close to guava, along with fruit chews, sweet cheese and strawberry yogurt. Other strain descriptions list strawberry, tropical fruit and sweetness, occasionally apricot as well. User reports add a gassy undertone as well as banana, peach and mango. Myrcene, limonene and caryophyllene are given as the defining terpenes, also by a producer for its own flower. Which of them predominates remains contradictory: one description calls myrcene the most common terpene and, in the same text, limonene the dominant one.

Effects:

Oni Seed Co lists the effects as euphoric and relaxing, at times sedating. User reports point the same way: relaxation, elevated mood, silliness, hunger and a tingling in the body are named. Some reports, by contrast, describe the strain as activating and focusing, others as heavy and making drowsy; a few found the effect weak. Dry mouth and dry eyes are named as side effects, and individual reports also mention paranoia, restlessness and disorientation.

THC and CBD Content:

A widely circulated strain description gives 20 to 28 % THC, while another lists CBD at 0.04 %. Well above that is the figure from the 2026 magazine report, which gives 33 % total THC for the Californian indoor batch without naming a lab.

Cultivation:

The plant is listed for indoor and outdoor growing; outdoors, harvest is given as early to mid October. Bloom Seed Co describes a high yield with strong resin production and medium fertilizer demand; the root zone is supposed to dry out between waterings, as the strain tolerates constant wetness poorly. A cultivation guide gives a stretch of 1.5 to 2 times in the first 2 to 3 weeks of flowering, recommends topping and light support of the main shoots, and describes dense, calyx-rich buds with little leaf content. The magazine report mentions a slightly pink sheen on the trichomes. The difficulty is rated medium, in one description as easy.

Versions from Different Breeders:

For the original version from Oni Seed Co, feminized seeds and 63 to 70 days of flowering are documented. Bloom Seed Co gives 9 to 10 weeks to maturity for its line, with 3 to 4 weeks of vegetative growth. Rocket Seeds lists its own feminized seeds under the same name and with the same parent information, and gives 53 to 64 days of flowering, 80 to 150 cm plant height indoors, 250 g per plant outdoors, and 23 % THC and 1 % CBD. A clone cut also circulates under the short form Strawguava.

Community Experiences:

One grower noticed a strong strawberry smell on a phenotype of the S1 line already in the vegetative phase. Another grew a single S1 plant in soil, saw hardly any mass gain or resin in week 5 of flowering and reported hermaphroditism from week 3.5 to 4 of flowering, which led to 30 to 70 seeds across the whole room. The terpene profile was nonetheless rated positively.
