Strawberry Banana

Strawberry Banana comes from a Banana Kush by Crockett Family Farms as the mother and a Bubble Gum plant grown from Serious Seeds seeds as the father, a plant referred to as the Strawberry phenotype. DNA Genetics released the strain under its own label, Reserva Privada. The names Strawnana, STB and Strawberry Banana OG are also in use. The breeder classifies the cross as 70 % Indica and 30 % Sativa.

Genetics and Origin:

Sources differ on who contributed what to the strain. DNA Genetics describes it as a cross of Crockett's Banana Kush with a Strawberry phenotype selected from Bubble Gum by Serious Seeds. Other strain descriptions speak of a collaboration between the two companies or credit the strain to Serious Seeds alone. On one DNA Genetics product page, the mother is also called Banana OG instead of Banana Kush.

DNA Genetics states 18 cup wins without listing them individually. Documented are a 1st place in the Best Indica category at the first High Times Alaska Cannabis Cup in 2018 and a 1st place for a hand-pressed rosin from this strain in the Non-Solvent Hash category at the 2015 World Cannabis Cup.

The strain also appears as a parent in further lines. For Strawberry Fields, Crockett Family Farms crossed a Strawberry Banana mother with a Tangie father; Honey Bananas and Gummy Bears are also listed as offspring.

Aroma and Flavor:

Descriptions center on strawberry and banana, carried by pronounced sweetness and an earthy undertone that grow reports also call buttery. Consumers compare the taste to chewing gum or fruit candy, a few notice a hint of custard or diesel, and others find it weaker than the name suggests.

Limonene, myrcene and caryophyllene are named as the predominant terpenes in strain descriptions. An analysis by the aroma manufacturer Abstrax confirms limonene and myrcene as the main components and names trans-beta-ocimene as the compound that sets Strawberry Banana apart most clearly from other strains.

Effects:

User reports describe a euphoric, cheerful onset, often with talkativeness and creative thoughts, followed by physical relaxation. A tingling in the body and an effect that builds gradually are mentioned repeatedly. Reports disagree on the depth of the relaxation: some describe tiredness and couch-lock, others stayed awake and active. Grow reports also mention an aphrodisiac effect.

Dry mouth and dry eyes appear as side effects, in isolated cases also restlessness or paranoia. Some reports criticize harsh smoke.

THC and CBD Content:

A single measurement of one batch, published in Malta in 2025, showed 16.69 % total THC, 0.32 % CBD and 0.55 % CBG; the testing lab is not named there. One strain description, by contrast, gives 22 to 26 % THC.

Cultivation:

For the original version, Reserva Privada states 9 weeks of flowering and an indoor yield of 450 to 550 g/m². According to the breeder, the plant responds well to topping, needs medium to high nutrient levels and is also suitable for beginners. Because of the heavy resin production, DNA Genetics sees the strain primarily as source material for concentrates.

In 2 documented indoor grows, flowering took 63 days each. Both describe fir-tree-shaped growth with numerous long, sturdy side branches and hard, compact buds with little leaf content. Reports on size diverge: one plant grew from about 30 cm at the start of flowering to around 150 cm, while the other report considers the strain suitable for very low grow spaces.

The reports also contradict each other on nutrient demand. One advises not exceeding an EC of 1.3 during flowering and describes the plants as sensitive to over- and underfeeding; the other found them heavy feeders and tolerant of mistakes.

Versions from Different Breeders:

The original strain from Reserva Privada is documented only as regular seed. Other breeders offer their own versions:

• BSB Genetics gives 9 weeks of flowering, up to 550 g/m² under 600 W and 20 % THC for a feminized version of the same cross.
• Fast Buds' Strawberry Banana Auto derives from Strawberry Banana and an unspecified ruderalis; stated are about 74 days from germination to harvest, up to 600 g/m², up to 150 cm in height and up to 27 % THC.
• Strawberry Banana Fast from Plantation Premium Seeds adds an undisclosed hybrid to the two parents, which shortens flowering. The breeder states about 56 days of flowering, 400 to 500 g/m² indoors and an outdoor harvest in late September in the Northern Hemisphere.
• Medicann Seeds uses the name for a cross of Amnesia Haze and Strawberry Banana with 10 weeks of flowering, at least 21 % THC and 0.2 % CBD.
