Strawberry above a sharp diesel note defines the aroma of Strawberry Gelato as strain descriptions render it; consumer reports speak of strawberry with a petrol note. The indica-dominant cross was bred by Elev8 Seeds, a breeder founded in 2014 in Salem, Oregon, which crossed Gelato #33 with its own strain Strawberry Snow Cone. Other breeders also list strains with different lineage under the same name.
Aroma and Flavor:
Besides fruit and diesel, the descriptions mention earthy tones, and another adds musk, clove and sharp spice. Sweet berries dominate the flavor, followed by a spicy hint on the exhale. Consumers highlight the flavor in their reports; one writes that the strawberry only shows at the back of the palate.
Genetics and Origin:
Gelato #33 descends from Sunset Sherbet and Thin Mint Cookies. Elev8 Seeds bred Strawberry Snow Cone from Strawberry Cough and Sour Diesel, with the Sour Diesel parent given variously as an inbred line or a backcross. According to the breeder, this strain stays low, yields heavily and comes closer to a strawberry aroma than any other the breeder knows. A single strain description, by contrast, traces Strawberry Gelato directly back to Strawberry Cough and Gelato #33.
As a parent, the Elev8 line appears in Double Berry Gelato by Savage Land Exotics, an autoflowering cross with AutoBlueberry from Dutch Passion.
Effects:
Several user reports mention relaxation and good mood, along with talkativeness and a tingling in the body; one report also stresses energy. Individual consumers name euphoria, creativity or focus, and one felt mainly loosened muscles. As for the head, reports differ: alongside the report on focus stand 2 others whose authors could hardly think clearly or lost concentration. Side effects named are dry eyes, dry mouth and nervousness.
THC Content:
For the Elev8 line, one strain description gives 20 % THC and 1 % CBG. Elev8 Seeds itself rates the potency as high without stating a figure.
Lab Results:
An evaluation of certificates of analysis for products under the name Strawberry Gelato lists myrcene at an average of 0.44 % as the strongest terpene, closely followed by beta-caryophyllene at 0.43 %, then limonene at 0.36 % and terpinolene at 0.32 %. A second overview, likewise based on lab data, puts caryophyllene first, followed by humulene and limonene. Which line stands behind the tested products remains open, and levels vary by batch, cultivation and phenotype.
Cultivation:
The seeds from Elev8 Seeds are feminized, and the breeder gives a flowering time of 8 to 9 weeks. Strain descriptions name the strain as suitable for indoor and outdoor cultivation. The flowers are described as small and dense, with dark tones and orange pistils; another description speaks of resinous, dense flowers that can turn purple toward the end of flowering.
Versions from Different Breeders:
Haute Genetique has crossed its own Strawberry Gelato from Acai Gelato, which is also listed as Gelato #49, and Strawberry Cookies by Epik Genetics, and offers it as regular seeds. Masonrie Genetics used this line for Blueberry Freeze, crossed with Blueberry Cookies, and as the male parent of Strawberry Freeze. A strain description of the cross of Strawberry Cookies and Acai Gelato gives 18 to 21 % THC and an indica share of 70 %.
For the autoflowering version by Automatically Delicious, from Strawberry Guava Auto and Gelato Auto F4, 63 to 70 days from germination and 20 to 24 % THC are given; it is described as sativa-dominant with 60 % sativa.
Sonoma Seeds and Sunwest Genetics list feminized seeds for which they give the same lineage as Elev8; Sonoma Seeds explicitly names Elev8 as the breeder. Their figures are identical: 52 to 62 days of flowering, 22 to 26 % THC, 0.29 to 0.42 % CBD, and a yield of 400 g/m² indoors and 400 g per plant outdoors. Sonoma Seeds also classifies the strain as a balanced hybrid, whereas Elev8 lists it as indica-dominant.
